Emaar Properties , a Dubai -based Public Joint Stock Company  ,  United Arab Emirates  and one of the largest real estate companies in the world, is listed on the  Dubai Financial Market  and part of the Dow Jones Arabian Titans Index.
The company announced its net profit for the first quarter as of March  31,  2006  reached AED 1,517 billion (US $ 413.1 million) - a significant increase in the AED of 1,325 billion (US $ 361.0 million) for the most important period from the previous year. Emaar's net profit for this year which ended on December  31,  2005  increased by 180%, gaining a record of AED 4,731 billion (US $ 1,288 billion). This figure represents a large increase in AED 1,691 billion (US $ 460 million) for  2004 , and reflects the company's significant growth since  1997 .

In the United Arab Emirates

With more than 14,000 homes, Emaar has several large real estate projects through various types of development challenges in Dubai. The company also owns and manages  Gold and Diamond Park .

In Saudi Arabia, Emaar has a project on the creation of an AED 98 billion (US $ 26.6 billion) project,  King Abdullah Economic City , a mixed development that includes 55 million m² of field land with 35 km of coastline close to the port city of  Jeddah .

Expansion Plan

Last year, property builders announced plans to expand the retail store sector with an investment of AED 15 billion (US $ 4 billion) to build approximately 150 malls on the emerging markets of the Middle East, North Africa (MENA) and the Indian subcontinent.
While continuing to expand the business core of real estate development, Emaar has made variations to nearby businesses. Emaar owns and manages EMRILL, a joint venture with Carillion based in the  United Kingdom  which provides property management facilities and services. Emaar also holds a 30% stake in Dubai bank, focusing on retail stores and trading banks and is the largest shareholder in Amlak Finance, an Islamic finance company in the UAE.

Mohamed Ali Alabbar

Mohamed Ali Alabbar, Director General  [1]  Dubai Department of Economic Development and Chair of Emaar Properties, as a member of the Dubai Executive Council, the highest government body with a mandate to combine all growth initiatives in Dubai.
Mr Alabbar is an inventor of the Arab Business Council member, inaugurated by the World Economic Forum. [2]  Euromoney  Magazine included it as one of the 5 most important Arabs among 50 global economic leaders, when  [3]  Advertising Age  chose it as one of the International Marketing Superstar of the Year (19960.  Arabian Business  Magazine, 2006, ranked Mr. Alabbar the 6 of the 50 most important Arabs.
A graduate of Finance and Business Administration from  [4]  Seattle University, USA (1981), Mr. Alabbar began his work with [http: // www.centralbank.ae/] UAE Central bank, before formalizing his international presence with a 5-year assignment as Director and Dubai Government General Manager-owned by Al Khaleej Investments in Singapore.
Under the guidance of Mr Alabbar, the Department of Economic Development, which he managed in  1992 , pioneered public policy that strengthened trade and business segments in Dubai while serving a clear and open culture.
